For 51 weeks a year, the population of Augusta is roughly 200,000 people. Then, there’s the week of the Masters.

During the second week of every April, more than 40,000 patrons from all over the world find themselves in the seemingly obscure Georgia town.

While the number of patrons attending will be reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will still be thousands of people in Augusta throughout this week.

As someone who has lived in Augusta for nearly 15 years, I would like to think I have a good idea of the best places to be after you depart from the course for the day.

So, without further ado here are three different venues that all provide a similar yet vastly different atmosphere during the week of the tournament.

Hooters

Address: 2834 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30909

Hooters has 420 locations in 29 different countries, so you may be wondering why it made the list. I have two words: John Daly.

The former PGA Tour golfer has become a yearly fixture at the restaurant less than five minutes from the gate of the tournament. Daly parks his RV in the parking lot and proceeds to sell merchandise and sign autographs for hours.

At night, Daly can be found inside the Hooters or in the tent set up beside the physical restaurant. It is there that Daly can be found drinking and entertaining anyone who enters the restaurant.

Wild Wing Café

Address: 3035 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907

Another chain restaurant, but another place that provides a very welcoming atmosphere. It sits just about 10 minutes away from the gates of the Augusta National Golf Club.

In addition to great wings and a cold beer, there is also live music almost every night during the week of the tournament. From tournament employees to patrons, Wild Wing Café is a bustling spot after a long day at the course.

Garden City Social

Address: 1157 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30901

If you are looking for a bar rather than a true restaurant, Garden City Social is the perfect place. While GCS is only open from Thursday to Saturday, it provides a true bar atmosphere complete with live music.

GCS stays open until 2 a.m. every night, which allows patrons to keep the party going even after they depart from the tournament grounds.
