2021 Masters: Pro Golf Now Staff Picks to Win
By Tim Letcher
It’s here, the 2021 Masters, back where it belongs, in the second week of April. When we last saw Augusta National, Dustin Johnson was beating the field in dominating and record-breaking fashion.
Now, the Masters is back and there’s a different hot player. Yes, DJ is still the number one player in the world. But Jordan Spieth claiming victory last week at the Valero Texas Open has a lot of people leaning in his direction.

Our staff at Pro Golf Now makes picks each week, and here’s what our group is thinking for the 2021 Masters.
Bryson DeChambeau
Josh Chandler
Not many have been better in the run-up to this Masters and with Bryson showcasing an acute tactical awareness of when to harness his power in recent events he looks like a solid pick to win on his second attempt with the Kraken in his arsenal.
Michael Ellis
DeChambeau didn’t have a great showing at the 2020 Masters just a few months back. Expectations last year were a bit high for the young bomber but experience is paramount. DeChambeau’s best finish at the Masters was in 2016, finishing T-21. I firmly believe this is the year DeChambeau overpowers Augusta National and secures his second career Major Championship.
Dustin Johnson
Tim Letcher
DJ is not playing as well, at the moment, as he has recently. But I keep thinking back to November when he flew away the field at Augusta. Now that he’s done it once, I think he can, and will, win the Masters again.
Mike Randleman
Is Dustin Johnson playing like he and his supporters would like him to be going into Augusta? No. Is there enough to supplant him as the favorite? I don’t think so. The 2020 Masters champ had to wait just six months to try to become the first player to win two green jackets in a row since Tiger Woods pulled it off in 2001-02. It’s hard to forget Johnson’s performance in which he led pretty much wire-to-wire. Scores of 65-70-65-68 were good for a five-shot romp and a tournament record 20-under total.
Brooks Koepka
Joey McCusker
I have been waiting for a full recovery and heard on ‘The Pat Mayo Experience’ that his personal trainer said “This pony is ready to run hard.” That is more than enough for me to back him. T7 in 2020 and T2 in 2019 are the best finishes here. When Brooks is overlooked, that is when he wins tournaments.
Jon Rahm
Kathy Bissell
Bill Felber
I am smart enough not to mess with fate. Jon Rahm is the obvious selection this week. On the course he’s a consistent contender. Away from the course, things are going so well that my hunch is the golf gods have this outcome rigged. I would say he’s in line to win his first Major, but I think he just did that.
Cameron Smith
Chris O’Day
Jordan Spieth
Hans Geevers
Dalton Finkbeiner
It’s the popular pick, but I think Spieth is peaking at the right time. Not only has he had a fantastic start to the 2021 season, Spieth has a track record of winning before majors. He has won in his last start before a major win TWICE in his career. These are the results in Spieth’s last start before his three major wins: T2, 1, 1. Now, not all of these tournaments were the week before, but it shows that Spieth has the ability to win back to back starts. Add in his track record at Augusta, I think Spieth sets up perfectly to slip on his second green jacket.
Josh Mullenix
This pick seems almost too easy but I’m going with it anyways. Spieth has been one of the best iron players in the world over the last couple months and this golf course demands precision from the fairways as a second shot golf course. He was sixth in SG: Putting last week and Spieth always contends at this tournament when he is in form. It’s hard to argue anyone is more in form than Spieth this week. Great iron play and history on this course get Spieth his second green jacket.
Justin Thomas
DJ Cadden
Kasey Kuhrts
In his five-career starts at Augusta he has continued to improve. His first start in 2016 saw him finish 39th, 2017-22nd, 2018-17th, 2019-12th, and 4th last year. I don’t know about you, but to me that sounds like he’s on track for a victory, and his second major title.
