First Round Leader Bets
Jordan Spieth +1600
Spieth bets will be popular this week with his current form and track record at Augusta. One thing Spieth has shown he can do is get off to a strong start at the Masters. Since 2014, he has held the solo first round lead twice (2015, 2016). Also, in seven stroke play events in 2021, Spieth has shot under par in every first round, with five of those rounds being below 70.
Add in the fact he is coming off his first win since 2017, where he shot a final round 66, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Spieth at the top of the leaderboard after play on Thursday.
Patrick Cantlay +2800
Patrick Cantlay ranks 1st on the PGA Tour in Round 1 scoring average, and has a solid track record at Augusta National. In his three starts at the Masters, Cantlay has posted two top 20 finishes, including a T9 at the 2019 tournament.
During the 2021 season, Cantlay has played in ten stroke play events. He has carded an opening round in the 60’s six times in that span, including a round of 62 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which gave him the first round lead.
Sergio Garcia +4500
It was less than a month ago that Sergio Garcia put together a masterful opening round score of 65 at the Players Championship. Garcia also ranks in the top 20 on tour in Round 1 scoring average, with an average score of 69.64.
The 2017 Masters Champion has been at the top of the leaderboard on Thursday at Augusta before. He was also the co-leader after the first round in 2013, sharing top spot with Marc Leishman.
