This week, the European Tour presents fantasy golf fans with the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open. This will be the first time that this event has been played on the European Tour. A quality field of talented players will compete to become the first golfer to hoist the inaugural Gran Canaria Lopesan Open trophy on Sunday afternoon. Who will it be?

Can last week’s Austrian Open winner John Catlin win two in a row? I will do my best to answer those questions as I present you with my fantasy golf picks for this week’s European Tour event!

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Kurt Kitayama $9,600

The 28 year old American has played five tournaments on the European Tour since the beginning of February. In those five events just mentioned, Kitayama has an impressive four top 15 finishes, including a second place result at the Magical Kenya Open last month.

Kitayama currently ranks 14th in scoring average (69.54), 15th in driving distance (315.79), and 15th in putting average (27.88) on the European Tour.

Garrick Higgo $8,500

The South African has three top 19 finishes in his last four events played on the European Tour, including a fourth place result at last week’s Austrian Open.

Due to the fact that Higgo performed so well at the Austrian Open, I decided to take a hard look at the player statistics from that event to see how Higgo compared relative to the field. After four rounds of competitive play at the 2021 Austrian Open, in relation to the field, Higgo ranked 12th in driving accuracy (64.29%), eighth in strokes gained tee to green (2.81), and 11th in GIR (greens in regulation-76.38%).

Marcus Armitage $8,000

The Englishman arrives at this week’s European Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top ten finishes, including a tenth place result at the Kenya Savannah Classic last month. Armitage has yet to secure his first win on the European Tour. I like his chances to make a run at his first title this Sunday.

Justin Walters $7,300

Walters fired a final round 65 at last month’s Kenya Open on his way to a 12th place finish. Additionally, Walters finished 21st at last week’s Austrian Open. I think Walters presents outstanding fantasy golf value at a Draftkings price of only $7,300.

Dale Whitnell $7,200

The 28 year old has two top 28 finishes in his last four events played on the European Tour, including a 15th place result at the 2021 Austrian Open.

Additional golfers I like: Joost Luiten $9,300: Jeff Winther $7,700.
