Rose, the 40-year-old, who represents the country of England has not won a PGA Tour event since the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open. Rose got off to a hot start at the 2021 Masters by jumping out to a 4 stroke lead on the first day. He ended up holding the lead going into Saturday, but Hideki Matsuyama played a great third round and took control of the leaderboard. Rose ended up shooting 2-over par on the last day of the Masters and finishing 7-under for 7th place.
Rose’s best finish at the Valspar Championship came back in 2018 when he finished 7-under and tied for 5th place.
A win at the Valspar Championship would be a great thing for Rose. Many people thought Rose was going to run away with the green jacket three weeks ago, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. A win here would put losing the lead at the Masters behind him, and he can move on knowing that he can still close out a tournament.
The worst thing for Rose is not to make the cut going into the weekend. If he doesn’t make the cut, Rose could start having doubts about his game, and it could lead to poor performances down the road.
I think Rose is a great guy to root for this weekend. Rose has always been one of the tour’s best golfers, but he is hardly mentioned when people talk about the best players on tour. I want to see Rose continue to succeed throughout the 2021 PGA Tour, and winning the Valspar Championship would be a huge accomplishment.
Rose tees off at the Valspar Championship at 12:49 PM ET on Thursday.
