The 2021 AT&T Byron Nelson takes place this week at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, just north of Dallas. And there are a number of players from the Lone Star state in this week’s field. Which native Texan could win this week? Here’s a look at the best bets.

More from Pro Golf Now

Jordan Spieth (Dallas) – He broke a long winless drought last month in San Antonio. Now, Spieth is looking to continue to play well with the PGA Championship on the horizon. As he tries to work his way back into the conversation of the best players in the game, another win would fuel that fire.

Scottie Scheffler (Dallas) – Last year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Scheffler is still looking for his first PGA Tour victory. His game is in fine form and if he can make some putts this week, there’s no reason to believe that he can’t contend here.

Ryan Palmer (Amarillo) – Believe it or not, Palmer has made 14 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, tied for the second-longest current streak. He has three Top 10 finishes in 2021 and, at age 44, Palmer is now 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He could definitely contend this week.

Robert Castro (Houston) – Looking for a long-shot? Castro would be exactly that. He has played in five events on tour this season and has made two cuts (in Puerto Rico and at Puntacana). He would need a special week to earn his first PGA Tour win.

Bronson Burgoon (The Woodlands) – Another long-shot in this event, although maybe not as long of a shot as Castro. Burgoon has made nine cuts on tour this season and is 150th in the FedEx Cup standings. A good showing in his home state could be crucial to Burgoon’s postseason chances.

In a tournament named in honor of one of golf’s greatest players, and a native Texan himself, it would be appropriate for one of these players to win this week.
