Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2021 PGA Championship!
Xander Schauffele $9,600
Schauffele has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour since the beginning of February. In those six events just mentioned, Xander has accumulated four top 15 finishes, including a third place result at the Masters last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 PGA Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Schauffele ranks ranks 17th in GIR (greens in regulation), fourth in birdie or better percentage, first in strokes gained on par fives, and tenth in Draftkings points scored.
Viktor Hovland $9,300
The 23 year old arrives at this year’s second major championship on the heels of two consecutive top three finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the Well Fargo Championship two weeks ago.
It should also be noted that Hovland won the Mayakoba Golf Classic in December.
Abraham Ancer $7,900
Since the beginning of March, Abraham Ancer has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those six events just mentioned, Ancer has an impressive five top 23 finishes, including a second place result at the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks ago.
Gary Woodland $7,500
The 2019 United States Open champion has two top six finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a sixth place result at the Valero Texas Open last month. I think Woodland’s game is trending in a positive direction.
Keegan Bradley $7,300
The 2011 PGA Championship winner arrives at this week event in good form. Let me be more specific. Bradley has three consecutive top 23 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Valspar Championship earlier this month.
Stewart Cink $6,900
The American has three top 19 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the RBC Heritage last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 PGA Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Cink ranks eighth in GIR (greens in regulation), fourth in strokes gained ball striking, eighth in driving distance, and eighth in bogey avoidance.
Additional golfers I like: Rory McIlroy $11,500: Tony Finau $8,600: Jordan Spieth $10,100.
