Fantasy Golf: 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge Draftkings Player Picks
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour presents the fantasy golf community with the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge. No, I don’t think that we will have the drama that we had at last week’s PGA Championship, but that’s fine. After all, Phil Mickelson’s historic win only happens once in a lifetime I guess. Having stated that, this week’s field is stacked with talent, including 2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth, 2020 PGA Champion Collin Morikawa, and 2021 Players Championship winner Justin Thomas.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Patrick Reed $10,300
The 2018 Masters champion fired a third round 69 at last week’s PGA Championship on his way to an eventual 17th place finish. Additionally, Reed finished seventh at the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Reed also checks the box for me when it comes to key statistics. Reed is currently ranked second in strokes gained putting (.993), 12th in birdie average (4.37), and eighth in birdie or better percentage (25.36%) on the PGA Tour.
Brandt Snedeker $7,900
The 40 year old American has three top 17 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a sixth place result at the Valero Texas Open last month. Snedeker also finished second at the 2015 Charles Schwab Challenge. It should also be noted that Snedeker has played the Charles Schwab Challenge seven times since 2011. Snedeker’s worst result in that seven tournament span was 48th and he made the cut in all seven as well.
Russell Knox $7,300
The 35 year old has two top 21 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including an 18th place result at the Wells Fargo Championship three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Knox ranks ranks sixth in GIR (greens in regulation), eighth in strokes gained approach, eighth in strokes gained tee to green, and 11th in bogey avoidance.
Knox also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event history. Knox has played the Charles Schwab Challenge five times since 2014. In those five tournaments just mentioned, Knox has four top 24 finishes, including an eighth place result in 2018.
Brian Stuard $6,700
In my opinion, driving accuracy will be pivotal to a golfer’s success at this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. Having stated that, I am backing Brian Stuard with confidence. In the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, in relation to this week’s 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge field, Brian Stuard ranks first in driving accuracy. Stuard also finished 18th at the RBC Heritage last month.
Adam Schenk $6,500
The 29 year old American has two top 25 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including an 18th place result at the Valspar Championship three weeks ago.
Additional golfers I like: Abraham Ancer $9,700: Kevin Streelman $8,300: Scott Stallings $7,400.
