Mickelson is coming off a historic victory at the PGA Championship and was the champion here in 2008. Billy Horschel, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas (Thursday, 2:06 ET; Friday, 9:16 ET) – Horschel is having a solid season on tour with four top fives including a win at the WGC-Match Play. Thomas is the world’s second-ranked player and has a win at the Players Championship under his belt this season.
Joaquin Niemann, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose (Thursday, 9:05 ET; Friday, 1:55 ET) – Niemann has four Top 10s this season, including runner-up finishes at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Sony Open. Reed won at Torrey Pines earlier this season and four other Top 10s. Rose has just a pair of Top 10s this season but has played better lately.
Sergio Garcia, Kevin Kisner, Ryan Palmer (Thursday, 1:55 ET; Friday, 9:05 ET) – Garcia won here in 2001 (yes, 20 years ago). Kisner was the champion here in 2017. Palmer, a native Texan, saw his made cut streak end last week at 14 straight. He’ll be looking to start a new streak this week.
Tony Finau, Jason Kokrak, Henrik Stenson (Thursday, 1:44 ET; Friday, 8:54 ET) – Finau continues to look for his first win in five years. Kokrak has four Top 10s this season, including his first PGA Tour win at the CJ Cup. Stenson has had his struggles this season but did make the cut at the PGA Championship last week.
