2021 Charles Schwab: Winners and Losers from Colonial
By Tim Letcher
Each week on the PGA Tour, there are players who do better than the experts think they will while there are others who don’t do as well as expected. Here at Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are this week’s winners and losers from the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Winners
Jason Kokrak – He outdueled Jordan Spieth, in Texas, on the final day to earn his second win of the season, and of his career. Kokrak seems to be coming into the prime of his career and has proven to be a force on tour. He’s now fifth in the FedEx Cup standings.

Charley Hoffman – He had two dazzling rounds, a 62 on Friday and a 65 on Sunday. However, he paired those with rounds of 71 and 72. Still, it was good enough for Hoffman to tie for third place this week.
Patton Kizzire – It was a second straight T3 for Kizzire, who rallied on Sunday to climb three places in the final standings at Colonial. He also made his way to 46th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Sebastian Munoz – The T3 he posted this week is his best finish of the season. In fact, outside of his win at the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship, this tied Munoz’s best showing on tour.
Ian Poulter – Thursday and Friday were nothing special but Poulter shot 64-68 o the weekend to climb his way into a tie for third place. That’s his best showing of the season on tour.
Losers
Patrick Reed – One of the world’s Top 10 players, Reed was expected to contend this week. But he bogeyed his final hole on Friday to find himself one shot outside the cut line and home for the weekend.
Scottie Scheffler – The former Texas Longhorn was seen as a potential contender this week in Fort Worth. Instead, he shot 70 on Thursday then 73 on Friday to miss the cut by two shots.
Phil Mickelson – After such an amazing week, a letdown was to be expected this week. Mickelson shot 73-69 at Colonial to miss the cut this week. But he won the PGA!
Sungjae Im – One of the most talented players on tour, Im did not have the best week. He wasn’t particularly bad, but 71-71 was not good enough to make the cut in Fort Worth.
Lee Westwood – He opened the week with a 5-over par 75 on Thursday. That obstacle proved to be too much to overcome. Even a 69 on Friday was not enough to allow Westwood to be around for the weekend.
