After a one week stint in Texas, the PGA Tour returns to the state of Ohio for the 2021 Memorial Tournament. Fantasy golf fans will be presented with a talented field of golfers that includes defending champion Jon Rahm. Let’s take a look at this prestigious tournament from a Draftkings perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2021 Memorial Tournament!

Hideki Matsuyama $9,400

The 29 year old fired a third round 65 at the Masters last month on his way to winning his first major championship.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Memorial Tournament field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Matsuyama ranks ninth in strokes gained approach, 14th in strokes gained ball striking, 15th in strokes gained tee to green, 12th in bogey avoidance, and sixth in total Draftkings points scored.

It should also be noted that Hideki has had success at the Memorial Tournament in the past. His best result at this event was a win at the 2014 Memorial.

Billy Horschel $8,100

The 2014 FedEx Cup champion has two top 25 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including a 23rd place result at the PGA Championship two weeks ago. Horschel also finished 13th at the 2020 Memorial Tournament.

Keegan Bradley $8,000

The American arrives at this week’s 2021 Memorial Tournament on the heels of three consecutive top 18 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Valspar Championship.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Matsuyama ranks second in GIR (greens in regulation), fifth in strokes gained ball striking, fourth in strokes gained tee to green, second in bogey avoidance, and seventh in total Draftkings points scored.

Gary Woodland $7,900

The 2019 United States Open champion has two top 14 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a fifth place result at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Troy Merritt $6,900

The 35 year old American has three top eight finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week. I was actually surprised to see that Merritt was only $6,900 on Draftkings.

Martin Laird $6,700

I think Martin Laird fits the perfect narrative as a quality low cost fantasy golf selection this week. Laird fired a final round 72 at the PGA Championship two weeks ago en route to a eventual 23rd place finish. Additionally, Laird finished 23rd at the 2018 Memorial Tournament.

Next. 2021 Charles Schwab: Winners and Losers from Colonial. dark

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Laird ranks ninth in GIR (greens in regulation), sixth in strokes gained approach, and 15th in proximity to the hole.

Additional golfers I like this week: Collin Morikawa $10,400: Patrick Cantlay $9,400: Stewart Cink $7,500.
