The PGA Tour heads to Ohio this week for the 2021 Memorial Tournament, hosted by Jack Nicklaus. Because of the affiliation with the Golden Bear, this event always draws a very strong field of players.

This week is no exception. Many of the world’s best will descend on central Ohio for this year’s tournament. Here’s a look at the top five groups to watch on Thursday and Friday.

More from Pro Golf Now

Patrick Cantlay, Bryson DeChambeau, Jordan Spieth (Thursday, 1:32 ET; Friday, 8:32 ET) – Cantlay has had his share of struggles lately, but he did win here in 2019. DeChambeau continues to be one of the best players in the world and is about due to win again. Spieth has been hot lately and will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing Sunday at Colonial.

Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott (Thursday, 1:44 ET; Friday, 8:44 ET) – Hovland is one of the best young players in the world and has risen to number 12 in the world rankings. McIlroy won a few weeks ago at Quail Hollow and hopes to stay hot. Scott was the runner-up here two years ago.

Hideki Matsuyama, Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas (Thursday, 8:32 ET; Friday, 1:32 ET) – Matsuyama is still basking in his victory at the Masters. He’s also a former champion here, winning in 2014. Reed won at Torrey Pines earlier this year. Thomas is the top-ranked player in this week’s field and can win any event he enters.

Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele (Thursday 8:44 ET ; Friday, 1:44 ET) – Morikawa won on this course last year, although it was at the Workday, not the Memorial. Rahm actually did win the Memorial last year and is back to defend. Schauffele looks to have a solid week after some recent disappointments.

Tony Finau, Matt Kuchar, Jimmy Walker (Thursday, 7:56 ET; Friday, 12:56 ET) – Finau is still in search of his second PGA Tour win and first in five years. Kuchar won here in 2013 and seems to like this layout. Walker is a former major champion who is trying to regain his form.
