There are the favorites and sleepers for the 2021 Memorial at Muirfield Village. There there is FORE Right, a pick farther away from the fairway than most.

The FORE Right weekly article is coming off of its best pick since it has began as last week for the Charles Swab I chose Emiliano Grillo to come out of nowhere to make some noise and he made a little bit by finishing T8. Now we move to this week’s Memorial at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. This week’s pick came with a little more confidence after a decent finish for us last week as I have chosen the 38 year old from Idyllwild, California, Brendan Steele.

If you don’t know how this works, here is a short explanation. I do some guess work, some homework, and I watch each week. The favorites to win are the same as a drive down the middle of the fairway. The sleepers are the same as a drive just off the fairway in the first cut. Then there is FORE Right! It’s letting everyone know to look out, because you never know.

Brendan sits at 75 in the Fedexcup Rankings and 82 in the Official World Golf Rankings heading into this week’s tournament. He has a total of three PGA wins in his career with a win at the 2011 Valero Texas Open and back to back wins at the Safeway Open in 2016 and 2017.

So why the confidence in Steele for The Memorial? Well, let’s start with the fact that he is most likely going to be around for the weekend. This season thus far he has missed the cut just three times while making 15 and the last 12 in a row. Brendan finished third at the Honda Classic back in March and also has three Top 10 and five Top 25 finishes. He has definitely given himself a chance all season long so far.

Brendan Steele at Muirfield Village specifically isn’t too bad either. The last five times he has competed at this tournament he has made the cut. At last year’s Memorial, Steele finished with a personal best at this tournament with a T13.  If he can continue his made cuts streak I have no doubt he has a real chance at a Top 10 finish or even a possiblity to take home the hardware. Let’s see if Brendan Steele can give FORE Right back to back good showings for the first time.
