Fantasy Golf: Palmetto Championship @ Congaree Draftkings Picks
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf enthusiasts with the inaugural Palmetto Championship @ Congaree. The RBC Canadian Open was originally scheduled to be played this week. However, due to COVID-19 related issues the RBC Canadian Open was cancelled. Although the Palmetto Championship is making it’s debut on the PGA Tour, a few big names are in the field, including 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson. Let’s take a look at this tournament from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a Draftkings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my Draftkings/fantasy golf player picks for the 2021 Palmetto Championship @ Congaree.
Patton Kizzire $9,100
Kizzire arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top three finishes, including a third place result at the AT&T Byron Nelson last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Palmetto Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Patton Kizzire ranks fourth in strokes gained approach, fourth in strokes gained putting, and first in Draftkings points scored.
Russell Knox $8,200
Knox has two top 21 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including an 18th place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship. Additionally, Knox finished seventh at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.
Vincent Whaley $7,700
The American arrives at this week’s Palmetto Championship @ Congaree in rather good form. Let me be more specific. Whaley has accumulated five consecutive top 29 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 20th place result at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Palmetto Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Whaley ranks fourth in GIR (greens in regulation), fourth in strokes gained tee to green, eighth in strokes gained ball striking, and seventh in Draftkings points scored.
Ben Martin $7,600
The 33 year old has three top 26 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship last month. It should be noted that the field of talent at the Wells Fargo Championship was far superior to this week’s field at the Palmetto Championship @ Congaree. My point is simple, if Martin can contend at the Wells Fargo Championship than he can certainly be in contention on Sunday afternoon this week.
Bronson Burgoon $7,200
Burgoon has two top 13 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the Valspar Championship.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Palmetto Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Burgoon ranks eighth in bogey avoidance, 20th in driving distance, and 12th in scrambling.
Additional golfers I like this week: Garrick Higgo $9,000: Bo Hoag $7,500.
