Matthew Fitzpatrick

I’m taking Matthew Fitzpatrick this week. My feeling is that the big-time names will not do especially well this week because most will be focusing on the U.S. Open. That will open the door to a very competent but less known player, a description that fits Fitzpatrick perfectly.
Mike Randleman
Matt Fitzpatrick has quietly had a nice 2021. The Englishman owns eight top-25s in 12 starts between the European Tour and primarily the PGA Tour. He also won his last event of 2020, the DP World Tour Championship. Fitzpatrick used to go to Harbour Town with his family on vacation. A little course familiarity helped him to T-4th at the RBC Heritage. The 26-year-old continued his good form in South Carolina by posting T-23rd at the PGA Championship. In February and March, he posted four straight top-11 finishes, all coming in big-time events. Fitzy is a six-time winner on the Euro Tour. The former Northwestern Wildcat seeks his first PGA Tour win.
Tyrrell Hatton

I’m going with Tyrell Hatton. It’s hard to go against Dustin or Brooks, but I think both might be looking ahead to the US Open and not have their heads in it. Tyrell is such a good player and he seems like he’s close to getting across the finish line soon.
Dustin Johnson
Kasey Kuhrts

He hasn’t been playing well of late, but DJ is still the best player in the world. Against a field like this, he’s clearly the favorite. And, playing in his home state, he finds a way to get back on track before the U.S. Open.
Brooks Koepka
DJ Cadden
Ian Poulter
Hans Geevers
Joey McCusker
Josh Chandler
Poulter has quietly been playing really nice golf over the past month, this includes in his last start at the Colonial where he finished 3rd. Ian will be inspired by Phil’s victory a couple of weeks ago and use his excellent around the green game and work with the flat-stick to win this week.
Brandt Snedeker
Josh Mullenix
Brandt Snedeker. Due to his OWGR outside of the top 25 you haven’t seen Snedeker in either major this season, but he’s been playing some good golf. He has three top 11 finishes in his last six starts and two top 17 finishes in his last three. Koepka and DJ are obviously the frontrunners this week, but Snedeker is definitely in better form than DJ and without Koepka’s performance at Kiawah he’s had a much better last couple months than him as well.
