Every week on the PGA Tour, there are players who do better than expected and those who fall short of expectations. Here at Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are this week’s winners and losers from the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree.

More from Pro Golf Now

Winners

Garrick Higgo – The South African lefty became the first player to win on the PGA Tour in one of his first two career starts since Jim Benepe did so at the 1988 Western Open. The UNLV product finished at 11-under to top a group of six players who finished one shot back.

Bo Van Pelt – The veteran has had his struggles in recent years but this week was one of his best weeks in a long time. Van Pelt tied for second, which marked his first Top 10 on tour since 2015. It was his first top-three finish since 2012, when he was second at the CIMB Classic.

Hudson Swafford – He closed with a 66 to jump 12 spots in the final standings and into a tie for second place. For Swafford, it was his third Top 10 of the season and is second only to his win earlier this season at the Corales Puntacana.

Jhonattan Vegas – Tied his best finish of the season with a T2 this week in South Carolina. Vegas is projected to jump 33 spots in the FedEx Cup standings after this week’s finish, moving him to 70th position.

Doc Redman – He tied the best finish of his career this week with a T2 in South Carolina. That tied his second-place showing at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic. A big week indeed for Redman.

Losers

Brooks Koepka – Preparing for a major and facing a fairly light field, Koepka struggled this week in South Carolina. He shot 72 on Thursday and 73 on Friday to miss the cut by two shots. Certainly not what Koepka hoped for this week.

Harris English – Believe it or not, English had a share of the lead on Sunday at one point. He finished T14 after a disastrous back nine took him out of contention. It was a rough finish for a very good player.

Kevin Kisner – The South Carolina native hoped, and was expected to, contend this week at Congaree. Instead, he shot a pair of 72s to miss the cut by one shot. That’s six missed cuts in his last seven events, which is less than ideal.

Lucas Glover – He’s an ambassador for Congaree and knows the course very well. But he could not get anything going with the familiar surroundings this week. Glover shot 76-73 to miss the cut by a whopping six shots.

John Pak – A highly-acclaimed amateur player, Pak made his professional debut this week at the Palmetto Championship. He got off to a very rough start, shooting a 79 on Thursday. A 71 on Friday was better, but Pak still missed the cut by a long shot. Better days are ahead for Pak.
