Tony Finau has become a household name in the sport of golf over the last few years. Finau always seems like he is somewhere at the top of the leaderboard on a Sunday at a major, but he comes up just a bit short.

At the 2018 U.S Open at Shinnecock Hill Golf Club, Finau was one of the names on Sunday that could have won the U. S Open. Finau ended up shooting 2-over par in round four and finishing in fifth place.

The 2018 Open Championship Finau finished in a tie for ninth place.

Many people remember the 2019 Masters because of Tiger Woods coming back and winning the green jacket, but Finau was also fighting for the same green jacket that day. Finau was in the final grouping with Tiger Woods and Francesco Molinari on the final day, but he could not move up the leaderboard at all and finished in a tie for fifth place.

At the 2019 Open Championship, Finau finished 7-under and in third place. Even though he finished in third place he was far back from the winner Shane Lowry who shot 15-under.

At the 2020 PGA Championship, Finau found himself again near the top of a leaderboard on a Sunday at a major. Finau would go on to finish tied for fourth place.

Finau was towards the top of the leaderboard again at the 2020 U.S Open.  He shot 6-over par and finished in a tie for eighth place.

At the 2021 Masters and PGA Championship, Finau kept his streak of finishing near the top 10 in majors going. He finished in a tie for 10th at the Masters and finished in a tie for eighth at the PGA Championship.

Finau clearly has no problem showing up for majors and doing well in them. He just needs to find out how to close one out and he can bring home his first major championship.

I think the U.S Open is where Finau will finally win his first major. I think he will use all those top finishes he has had in previous majors, and he will use them as motivation to win the U.S Open.

Finau will tee off from Torrey Pines at 8:02 am PT Thursday to see if he can win the U.S Open.
