2021 FedEx Cup Bubble Boys: Rickie Fowler

The FedEx Cup playoffs will be here before we know it and the jockeying for positions continues all season long. We’re taking a look at those close to the cut line for getting in the playoffs and the subject of this article is No. 118, Rickie Fowler.
It’s been a tough season for Fowler, who has shown flashes of brilliance but has largely played less than what is expected from him. Fowler has entered 20 events and made 12 cuts so far. However, he only has one Top 10 finish.

He started his season with a T49 at the U.S. Open, then missed the cut at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Fowler bounced back with a T28 at the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek, then placed T57 at the Zozo Championship.
At the November Masters, Fowler was T29. He closed out 2020 by missing the cut at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
Starting 2021, Fowler was T21 at the American Express, followed by a T53 at the Farmers Insurance Open. He then missed cuts at the Phoenix Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Fowler placed T20 at the Genesis Invitational by was 72nd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He then missed the cut at the Players Championship, the site of his biggest career win.
At the Honda Classic, Fowler was T65, followed by a T17 at the Valero Texas Open. He then missed the cut at both the Wells Fargo and the AT&T Byron Nelson.
Fowler’s best showing of the year came at the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island. He finished T8 and would have finished even better if not for a second-round 76.
The solid play continued at the Memorial Tournament. There, Fowler was T11, with a Saturday 75 keeping him from finishing higher.
But last week at the Travelers Championship, Fowler faltered. He shot 75 on Friday to miss the weekend.
Fowler remains one of the more popular players on tour. However, he has some work ahead of him to maintain his current standing in the playoff chase.
