Joaquin Niemann: The next star on the PGA Tour
By DJ Cadden
Consistency is a hard thing to come by on the PGA Tour, but Joaquin Niemann has proven to be one of the most consistent players in the world this season.
The 22-year old Chilean is currently ranked No. 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking and sits at No. 25 in the most recent FedEx Cup standings.
Dating back to last year’s BMW Championship, Niemann has missed just one cut. Niemann also captured his first win on the PGA Tour at the 2019 Military Tribute at The Greenbrier.

In 20 events this season, Niemann has missed just one cut, while also recording 11 top-25 finishes, four top-10s and two runner-up performances.
So why has Niemann seen so much success this season?
The answer is that Niemann has done virtually everything at an elite level this season. Niemann ranks within the top-45 in every strokes gained category, with strokes gained around-the-green being the only exception.
There is no doubt that the best part of Niemann’s game is his ability off the tee, where he ranks No. 9 in driving distance. However, Niemann ranks No.130 in terms of driving accuracy percentage.
While Niemann struggles to maintain a high level of accuracy at times, he knows how to get things back under control. Niemann ranks No. 43 in strokes gained approach-to-green, while also ranking No. 25 in greens in regulation percentage.
While Niemann has just one win during his four years on tour, he has undoubtedly established himself as one of the most consistent golfers on the planet. For someone playing at such an elite level, a rise to stardom is nearly inevitable.
Niemann has consistently seen high levels of success during a handful of events near the end of the PGA Tour schedule, so another victory could come sooner rather than later.
