2021 FedEx Cup Bubble Boys: Anirban Lahiri
By Tim Letcher
The FedEx Cup playoffs will be here before we know it and the jockeying for positions continues all season long. We’re taking a look at those close to the cut line for getting in the playoffs and the subject of this article is No. 123, Anirban Lahiri.
Lahiri has played in 17 events so far this season and has managed to make the cut in eight of them. He has four Top 25 showings and a pair of Top 10s.

It was a pretty good start to the season for Lahiri. He finished T36 at the Safeway Open, following by his first Top 10 of the season, a T6 showing at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
Lahiri would play two more times in 2020. He finished T37 at the Sanderson Farms Championship and T11 at the Bermuda Championship. He was in 31st in the FedEx Cup standings at that point.
As 2021 began, Lahiri finished T62 at the Sony Open. But he missed the cut in his next two events, at the American Express and the Farmers Insurance Open.
He bounced back, for one week at least, with a T39 at the Puerto Rico Open. But he followed that with missed cuts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship and the Honda Classic.
Lahiri had his best finish of the year in his next start.
Playing the Valero Texas Open, he shot 71-69-69-69 to finish at 10-under par. That was good enough for a solo fifth, his best finish so far this year.
Lahiri could not keep the momentum going, however. He missed the cut at the RBC Heritage, the Byron Nelson and the Charles Schwab.
He was able to make the cut, finishing T25, at the Palmetto Championship. But he missed the cut last week at the Travelers after a second-round 75.
Lahiri isn’t in contention often but he seems to make the most of his chances. If he can get one more Top 10, or maybe even a Top 15, he could secure his spot in the postseason.
