Jason Kokrak, Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson (Thursday, 1:00 ET; Friday, 7:45 ET) – Kokrak is having a solid season on tour and currently sits 10th in the FedEx Cup standings. Reed is always a threat to win. Simpson has not been as good as expected this season but he is still a formidable opponent.
Cameron Champ, Bryson DeChambeau, Kramer Hickok (Thursday, 1:10 ET; Friday, 7:55 ET) – The long-hitting Champ has been a bit of a disappointment this season. He and DeChambeau will try to match long drives this week but only one of those two (DeChambeau) actually has a chance to win. Hickok nearly earned his first PGA Tour win on Sunday, falling to Harris English in a long playoff at the Travelers.
Max Homa, Bubba Watson, Matthew Wolff (Thursday, 7:45 ET; Friday, 1:00 ET) – Homa got a win earlier this season in Los Angeles and continues to play well. Watson appeared ready to win the Travelers again on Sunday before a late meltdown. Wolff continues to be up-and-down but can be really good when he has things going.
Richie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Phil Mickelson (Thursday, 7:55 ET; Friday, 1:10 ET) – Fowler played well at the PGA Championship but has not played well since. Matsuyama won the Masters in April and remains one of the world’s most talented players. Mickelson has not played well since winning the PGA Championship but, hey, he won the PGA Championship.
Garrick Higgo, Russell Knox, Joaquin Niemann (Thursday, 1:10 ET; Friday, 7:55 ET) – Higgo won a couple of weeks ago in just his second PGA Tour start. Knox is 94th in the FedEx Cup standings and looking to secure his spot in the playoffs. Niemann, like Higgo, is one of the brightest young stars in the game.
