The PGA Tour visits TPC Deere Run this week for the 2021 John Deere Classic. The field may be lacking in star power but this event is always fun to watch.

There are a number of former champions in this week’s field. Included are defending champion Dylan Frittelli, local favorite Zach Johnson and three-time winner Steve Stricker.

Daniel Berger

Mike Randleman

Going on nearly two years strong, Daniel Berger has continued to churn out consistently good golf. He comes to the John Deere Classic a rested man with his last start a T-7th three weeks ago at the U.S. Open. That was Berger’s fourth top-20 in his last five starts, which also includes T-3rd at the AT&T Byron Nelson. The former Florida State Seminole has missed just one cut since February and earned his fourth career PGA Tour win this year at Pebble Beach. This is all on the heels of a 2020 where a win at Colonial highlighted four top-three finishes and six top-10s in just 17 events. Berger is making his third appearance at TPC Deere Run. The Floridian posted T-5th (69-67-63-70) to finish three shots back in 2017 and T-33rd (66-66-72-69) in 2019.

Brandon Hagy

Bill Felber

Deere Run is my favorite PGA Tour course, probably because I have actually played it. Yes, it ate my lunch. With so many notables off to the Isles, we’re almost guaranteed a first-time winner. I like Brandon Hagy as the most likely to break through. He was striking the ball very well in Detroit. But I do have to add that if you scaled off the 50 highest ranked players and let me take the field, I’d be happy with that option as well.

Brian Harman

DJ Cadden

Kasey Kuhrts

Tim Letcher

Harman won here in 2014, so the course obviously fits his eye. He’s also played very well lately. He’s been in the Top 20 in eight of his last nine starts, including four Top 10s. He was T3 at the Players Championship, T5 at the WGC-Match Play, T8 at the Charles Schwab and T5 at the Travelers. That’s a player who is certainly trending. Look for Harman to pick up his third PGA Tour win this week.
