Ongoing feud with Bryson aside, there is no argument about this man’s pedigree in the big events, even while “not focusing” he managed a 5th place finish in his last start, and he has a really nice track record in recent Open appearances with three top 10’s in his last four starts. Brooks just needs the putter to cooperate this week, and it really is hard to envision him not winning one of the four majors on offer this year as the ‘ultimate big game hunter.

Koepka’s resume at major championships speaks for itself and it feels like he’s due. After squandering a chance to win the PGA Championship on Sunday thanks to a cold putter, Koepka’s story was similar at the U.S. Open in June. Koepka finished T4 at the Open Championship in 2019 and typically plays well at links style golf courses, utilizing his elite array of shots in his arsenal.

Louis Oosthuizen

Bill Felber

I am riding with Louis Oosthuizen. Not that I necessarily think he’s going to win, but he’s contended in the last two Majors and three of the last four. He’s also shown he can win the Open. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the guy plays a pressure-free game; he just won’t go away.

Jon Rahm

DJ Cadden

Tim Letcher

Sometimes, it’s easy to overthink things. I’m not doing that this week. Rahm won the last major championship and is currently the best player in the world. Pretty simple.

Mike Randleman

Don’t let the fact that Jon Rahm dropped from No. 1 in the world rankings to No. 2 fool you. He’s still playing the best golf of anyone lately. We all remember how well the Spaniard performed at the Memorial Tournament before a positive COVID-19 test kept him from protecting his six-shot, 54-hole lead. That could have led to a tailspin. Instead, Rahm reflected and moved on. The next time he teed it up, Rahm broke through for his major win at the U.S. Open. A thrilling birdie at 18 made the moment all the more special. Wisely, he rested up until getting some links reps last week at the Scottish Open.

Jordan Spieth

West Valentine

My pick to win The Open at Royal St. Georges is…Jordan Spieth. This is a really hard call to make. I think this Open will require imagination and the ability to deal with bad breaks. Bryson and Rahm – two favorites – don’t do that well. If Jordan can get his driver to a playable place, I love the rest of his game.
