This week in betting, we’ve reached the final major of the season, The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, England. Odds listed are from WynnBet.com, odds may very between different sportsbooks.

Jon Rahm is your favorite at 8-1, which makes all the sense in the world. The guy is playing the best golf in the world that not even a bout with Covid-19 could slow him down at Torrey Pines.

Golf futures are always my favorite to bet on because of all the value out there, so there’s a lot of potential money to be made.

I’m somebody who likes to hedge my bets, meaning I’ll make bets on multiple players/teams. I’ll give you the five guys I really like this week.

Brooks Koepka is first on my list. I really don’t think I have to go too deep into this. Brooks is a bulldog, the moment is never too big for him, and he’s as solid as it comes. Koepka is 16-1 at WynnBet.com

My actual pick to win The Open is Xander Schauffele at 18-1. Xander is going to win one of these eventually right? He’s finished in the top 6 in majors 6 times. I picked him at the US Open, which was a home game for him.

I just really don’t want Schauffele to become Lee Westwood where he is all around the lead  on Sunday at a major just to come up short. His time will come, and I think that time is now.

I really like Viktor Hovland at 30-1. He stands at 7th in the FedEx cup standings, he’s 9th on tour in scoring, and averages 4.41 birdies per round, which is 2nd on the tour.

Hovland has had some consistency issues in his very young career, after all he is only 23. If he can put it together for four days, there is no reason he can’t make some noise on Sunday.

Paul Casey is next on my list at 45-1. Casey has been really consistent this year in big tournaments. T5 at The Players, T4 at the PGA, and T7 at the US Open is convincing enough for me.

Even being 43, he’s back in his home country again, and has placed himself in position to take home the trophy. This might be his year.

Usually I’m only betting on four guys, this time I’m also taking a flier on Stewart Cink at 125-1. Obviously I’m not expecting Cink to win this with those long odds, but I think there is value here. The value might end up being best optimized with a cash out if he has a good first two rounds.

Cink has two wins already this season, is 15th in the FedEx Cup standings, and is still ranked 25th in driving distance at age 48. He’s also won this tournament before, way back in 2009, so knows what it takes to win in the UK.

The Open is always very entertaining because of how many different styles of play can work and all of the different approaches to each shot that are viable. Good luck this weekend and hopefully you can add some big money to your sports betting accounts.

To recap:

Brooks Koepka   16-1
Xander Schauffele  18-1
Viktor Hovland   30-1
Paul Casey   45-1
Stewart Cink   125-1
