Louis Oosthuizen holds the 36-hole lead at the 2021 Open Championship. But the event is only halfway over and is still up for grabs.

There are a number of players within striking distance of Oosthuizen but they will need to make a move on Saturday if they are to catch him. Here are the five players most likely to make that move in the third round.

More from Pro Golf Now

Collin Morikawa – He proved on Friday that he can go low with a 6-under par 64. He’s two shots behind Oosthuizen right now and could certainly shoot a round to get himself into, or very near, the lead on Saturday.

Jordan Spieth – The former Open champion sits three shots back through two rounds. More importantly, he seems to be striking the ball very well and, as always, he’s making plenty of putts. If he keeps that up, Spieth could go low and get himself into the lead.

Dustin Johnson – The thought about DJ at the Open Championship is that his game does not fit because of the wind and weather. But this week, neither of those has been a factor and DJ has thrived. If the weather continues to hold off, Johnson can get himself into the mix.

Jon Rahm – The U.S. Open champion came up just short of a 63 on Friday, settling for a 64. He’s now within six shots of Oosthuizen with 36 holes left. Rahm tends to rally on the weekends in majors and he’ll need to do that this weekend if he is to win a second straight major.

Paul Casey – There’s no doubt the native Englishman would love to win the Open Championship. He will need to make something special happen, as he enters the final two days six shots behind Oosthuizen. But Casey is comfortable with his game and played well on Friday, so anything is possible.
