Corey Conners – Yes, he has had a very good season on the PGA Tour. But Conners got into position with a very good round of 66 on Saturday. What are the odds that he can do that again on Sunday? Having not been in such a position very often, the odds are not in his favor.
Mackenzie Hughes – Not to pick on the Canadians here, but Hughes also will not win on Sunday. He was in a similar position in the U.S. Open, which will help him here, but my guess is that he won’t have enough to get it done on Sunday.
Dylan Frittelli – The South African has one PGA Tour win but it was at the John Deere, not exactly a major. He will feel the pressure on Sunday and likely will not have enough to climb into contention. Maybe someday, but not this week.
Justin Harding – Another South African, Harding has had a magical week. But coming from six shots back, with little to no major championship experience, seems like quite a task for him to overcome. A Top 10 would be an outstanding showing for Harding.
Marcel Siem – He has enjoyed a wonderful week at the Open but he will not win on Sunday. Overcoming six shots does not seem to be in the cards for Siem here. But his fist pumping and his joy of playing the game have been fun to watch all week.
