Robert‌ ‌MacIntyre‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌late‌ ‌entry‌ ‌into‌ ‌the‌ ‌3M‌ ‌Open‌ ‌field‌ ‌thanks‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌top-10‌ ‌last‌ ‌week‌ ‌at‌ ‌The‌ ‌Open.‌ ‌Bobby‌ ‌Mac‌ ‌finished‌ ‌T-8th‌ ‌at‌ ‌Royal‌ ‌St.‌ ‌George’s‌ ‌for‌ ‌his‌ ‌ninth‌ ‌straight‌ ‌made‌ ‌cut‌ ‌worldwide.‌ ‌

It took two birdies in his last five holes just to make the cut on the number. MacIntyre proceeded to fire 65 on Saturday and was in red numbers again Sunday.

He felt better with the flat stick as the tournament went on.

“I struggled obviously early on in the tournament,” MacIntyre was quoted by ASAP Sports. “Couldn’t get the putter going. I felt like on the weekend there I really started to get the putter rolling.”

The recent ‌impressive‌ ‌run‌ ‌of‌ ‌golf‌ ‌includes‌ ‌four‌ ‌majors highlighted by ‌T-12th‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌Masters‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ ‌trip‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌round‌ ‌of‌ ‌16‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌WGC-Match‌ ‌Play.‌

The‌ ‌Scot‌ ‌won‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌European‌ ‌Tour‌ ‌in‌ ‌2020‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌Aphrodite‌ ‌Hills‌ ‌Cyprus‌ ‌Showdown‌ ‌and‌ ‌could‌ ‌find‌ ‌his‌ ‌way‌ ‌onto‌ ‌the‌ ‌European‌ ‌Ryder‌ ‌Cup‌ ‌squad‌ ‌this‌ ‌fall.‌ ‌

MacIntyre does not have enough measured rounds to qualify for PGA Tour statistics. On the Euro Tour, he’s 20th in greens in regulation and six percentage points higher than average at 71.99%.

This is MacIntyre’s 3M Open debut. Perhaps fellow Scot and former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher, Angus Flanagan, can show him the ropes at TPC Twin Cities.
