  1. Rickie Fowler got off to a blazing start on Thursday. He was seven under par and tied for the lead following the first round at TPC Twin Cities.

Friday was much less friendly to Rickie. He wasn’t able to carry the momentum from his big start.

Fowler was two over in his second round. He got off to a great start, grabbing a birdie on the first hole, but that would be the last birdie that would fly for him on this day.

He gave that shot back with a bogey on the par 4 ninth hole. Bogies at 15 & 17 sealed the deal for his round, a massively disappointing 73.

Fowler did not have the accuracy Friday that he had on Thursday. In round one, he hit 71.4% of fairways and 77.8% of greens in regulation. In round two, those numbers dropped to 50% of fairways and, as a result, just 55.6% of greens.

His putting also fell off the table as well, gaining only 0.264 strokes, as opposed to the 4.227 he gained on the greens on Thursday.

Unfortunately this is sort how this year has gone for Rickie Fowler. The highs have been rather sparse and they’ve been very far between.

I was really hoping that Rickie had found something Thursday and he would be able to bottle that up and propel himself to a good weekend.

I know, I know, he’s only five shots back and still in a tie for 26th, he’s nowhere near out of the hunt, but a +2 second round was not exactly what the doctor ordered after a sensational opening round.

Fowler could really use a good finish in Minnesota, at least as far as the FedEx Cup is concerned. As it sits right now, Fowler is 124th in the FedEx Cup.

If the season ended today, he would be the second to last man in the playoff for the FedEx Cup. To say he is on the bubble would be a considerable understatement.

Hopefully Rickie can come out strong tomorrow and put together a nice round on moving day. A top 10 finish would feel pretty good for him after the type of year he’s had. I would be very sad if he was to miss the playoffs.
