Si Woo Kim had one of those holes on Sunday at the 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude. And it was one of those holes that he would rather forget but likely won’t be able to do so.

Kim had fallen well off the pace in the tournament by shooting a 75 on Saturday. He entered the final round in 64th place out of 66 players who started the event.

He was having a decent day on Sunday through 10 holes. His front nine consisted of two birdies, two bogeys and five pars, as he carded an even-par 35.

Kim parred the 10th hole before his adventure on the 11th. And it was a doozy.

The 11th hole at TPC Southwind is a par three and it was playing just 155 yards on Sunday. But for Kim, it wasn’t the distance, it was the accuracy that bit him on this hole.

Kim’s tee shot went into the water. He re-teed and hit his third shot, which also went into the water.

His fifth shot, you guessed it, went into the water. After another penalty his seventh shot also went into the water.

It was brutal to watch at that point and, sadly, it wasn’t over.

Kim’s ninth shot also went into the water. After taking another penalty, his 11th shot finally found dry land, stopping in the intermediate rough about 20 feet from the hole.

He would barley miss his put for a 12, tapping in for a 13. He went from even par to 10-over par in the span of one hole. He hit five balls in the water on one hole, something that is rare to see on any level, let alone on the PGA Tour.

To Kim’s credit, he did not quit. In fact, he birdied the following hole, and three more down the stretch, to end up shooting an 8-over par 78. But everyone will long remember the 13 on number 11.
