The final event of the PGA Tour’s regular season takes place this week at the 2021 Wyndham Championship. Players are vying to make it into the Top 125, which earns them a spot in the postseason.

The groups below feature players who are scrambling to hold onto, or improve on, their current positions. Here are five groups to watch Thursday and Friday.

More from Pro Golf Now

Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose – Fowler needs something good to happen this week. He’s currently on the outside looking in at the playoffs. Matsuyama stayed hot last week, falling in a playoff in Memphis. Rose is also on the outside of the playoff cut line and needs to make a move to get into the postseason.

Jason Kokrak, Louis Oosthuizen, Josh Teater – Kokrak is trying to position himself for a run at the FedEx Cup title. He’s currently 12th in the standings. Oosthuizen has the same mindset, currently sitting eighth in the standings. He seems to contend every week. Teater got into the field when Patrick Reed withdrew. The Kentucky native is 193rd in the FedEx Cup standings.

Jim Herman, J.T. Poston, Webb Simpson – Herman was the Cinderella story here last year, rallying to win and make his way into the postseason. Poston won here in 2019, his only victory on the PGA Tour. Simpson won here in 2011 and always seems to enjoy playing near home.

Adam Scott, Brandt Snedeker, Harold Varner III – Scott needs a big week to make the playoffs. He’s currently 121st in the FedEx Cup standings. Snedeker will make the postseason, he’s simply trying to improve his position at this point. Varner is 72nd in the standings and hopes to make his way up the list this week.

Wyndham Clark, Tommy Fleetwood, Bo Hoag – Wydham Clark in the Wyndham Championship? Seems like a natural fit. Fleetwood is fighting for his postseason life. He’s currently 136th in the FedEx Cup standings. Hoag, at this point, is the last player in the postseason. He’ll be trying to hold on to, or improve from, spot No. 125.
