My pick this week is the Little Lefty Brian Harman. This is not a course that require great length, so players like Webb Simpson, Oosthuizen, and Harman have a real shot at making noise. If Harman is putting well, watch out.

Russell Henley

Chris O’Day

Hideki Matsuyama

Kasey Kuhrts

Louis Oosthuizen

Michael Ellis

Talk about the model of consistency and you think of Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen seems to play well at this tournament year in and year out. He should crack the Top 10 no problem.

Webb Simpson

At this point, it might as well be called the Webb-ham Championship. Sure, Webb Simpson only has one Wyndham Championship win back in 2011, but he hasn’t left his home state’s tournament empty-handed for more than a decade. Simpson’s highlight at Sedgefield came in his third year on the PGA Tour. The Wake Forest grad used plenty of local fanfare to lift him to his first career win. Simpson posted 66-65-64-67 to prevail by three strokes over George McNeil, four over Tommy Gainey and five over a group tied for fourth place. A good run of form in his early days as a pro finally paid off. It was a launching pad for Simpson to win a FedEx Cup Playoffs event a couple weeks later. Another year goes by and he’s a U.S. Open champion at Olympic Club. Simpson grew up in Raleigh and resides in Charlotte, where he’s a member at Quail Hollow. Sedgefield also feels like home.

Tim Letcher

There’s no doubt that Simpson feels right at home in the Carolinas. He’s a past winner at this event and is looking to build some momentum before the FedEx Cup playoffs get started. No better place than somewhere he has won before.

Erik VanRooyen

Bill Felber

At the Wyndham, I’m always looking for a guy who needs the points, and/or one who’s moving quickly up the standings in recent weeks. Erik VanRooyen meets both criteria. He jumped from 139 to 78 this week, and sitting 78th positions him to get into the top 70 with another strong performance. Top 70 means playing in both the Northern Trust and the BMW. That’s pretty good bucks.
