Russell Henley has not won on the PGA Tour in more than four years. But on Sunday, he has a very good chance to break that streak at the 2021 Wyndham Championship.

Henley has been in control from the beginning this week. He opened play on Thursday with a sizzling round of 8-under par 62. The round included six birdies and an eagle. Henley would lead after 18 holes.

On Friday, he wasn’t quite as good as Thursday, but he was still really solid. Henley had seven birdies and one bogey on his way to a 6-under par 64. He would lead the field through 36 holes.

Saturday’s round was very quiet for Henley with one major exception. Henley had 14 pars on the day. He had one birdie and two bogeys.

The one exception to his quiet day came on the par-5 15th hole.

There, Henley drove his ball into the right fairway. His second shot, from about 220 yards, stopped about 35 feet from the hole. Then Henley rolled in the long eagle putt, going from even par to 2-under on his Saturday round.

That appeared to be where he would finish. However, a bogey on the 18th hole left Henley with a 1-under par round of 69.

He still leads, now with 18 holes to play. The lead is three shots over Tyler McCumber and four shots over a group of players that includes Branden Grace, Kevin Kisner, Nevin Na and Rory Sabbatini.

Henley’s last win came in 2017 when he claimed the title at the Shell Houston Open. It was his third PGA Tour title but he has had none since. His best finish since then was a runner-up showing at the 2019 John Deere Classic.

Everything can change for the former Georgia Bulldog on Sunday if he can win on Sunday. He’s in a great position to claim the title with just 18 holes remaining.
