The FedEx Cup playoffs begin this week with the 2021 Northern Trust. Our staff writers have made their picks to win and you can see them below.

Daniel Berger

Joey McCusker

Corey Conners

Bill Felber

Corey Conners has had a consistently solid season, leading to a top 30 position coming into the Northern Trust. I think he has as good a chance as anybody of cashing in this weekend.

Hideki Matsuyama

Josh Chandler

Hideki Matsuyama is well-positioned for a bounce-back this week following his struggles at last week’s Wyndham Championship. Hideki ranks top 10 in both tee to green and approach metrics in 2021, and even with his struggles last week he still gained in both departments. Matsuyama simply needs to turn things around on the greens to find himself in contention once more.

Rory McIlroy

Kasey Kuhrts

Collin Morikawa

West Valentine

It’s the first leg of the FedEx and time for the big boys to shine. I like Colin Morikawa this week. His game seems unflappable, he’s had recent success at The Open, and he’s still learning and getting better. This is his time to shine.

Jon Rahm

Mike Randleman

After a second bout with COVID-19 sidelined Jon Rahm in recent weeks, the world No. 1 is ready to return to action. The last time we saw the Spaniard was at The Open. An opening 71 wounded his chance at a victory, but Rahm fought back admirably with three rounds in the 60s to climb to T-3rd. He had a remarkable 2021 in the majors, taking T-5th at the Masters, T-8th at the PGA Championship and winning his first major in dramatic fashion at the U.S. Open. The former Arizona State Sun Devil enters the week on a streak of three top-10s, as well as four in his last five starts.

Tim Letcher

Rahm has been the best player on tour all season, he’s just been hampered by two battles with COVID-19. As long as all of that is behind him, he’ll be the best player in this field as well and will take home the title in the first playoff event.
