I’m going with Bryson this week. He’s either going to win or come in last. It’s a coin flip. We will see what he’s made of this week because he had a heartbreaking loss this week, jawed with Cantlay, and got in a heated exchange with a fan. Yikes.

Rory McIlroy, he’s tired, but he’s been playing well and already won twice at East Lake.

This pick comes down to who has been the most consistent player on Tour this year and that player is Jon Rahm. The OWGR #1 heads into the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club trailing Patrick Cantlay by four strokes. Rahm’s tee-to-green play is arguably the best on Tour and his putting, especially under pressure, gives him the best chance to mount a comeback this week and win the Tour Championship.

I’m taking Jon Rahm this week. Spotting Patrick Cantlay four strokes is a high hurdle. But Rahm has been playing as consistently well as anybody for several months, and I like the sporting feel of riding a strong come-from-behind candidate. In other words, I think he’s this week’s Seabiscuit.

I’ve got to go with Jon Rahm. After back-to-back weeks of falling short, the Spaniard gets the job done in Atlanta and caps off an impressive season.
Tim Letcher
Quite simply, he has been the best player on tour this year, when healthy. He will overcome the four-shot deficit to win the Tour Championship.

Oh, how the tables have turned for Jon Rahm. Flash back to early June when he was ready to climb atop the FedEx Cup standings leading the Memorial Tournament by six shots heading to the final round. Then, as we remember, Rahm was forced to withdraw immediately after Saturday’s round due to a positive COVID-19 test. One of the benefactors was Patrick Cantlay, who went from a tie for second place to co-leader, then a winner in a playoff over Collin Morikawa. That’s a 1,100 point swing between Rahm and Cantlay as Cantlay got the 550 FedEx Cup points for winning an elevated status event and Rahm took home a goose egg. Now there are 1,239 points between the two fellas. The points are out the window now at the Tour Championship, so Rahmbo can just keep his eyes on the leaderboard. He’ll see he’s four shots off the pace of Cantlay and you know he’d love to flip the script and steal the title away from him this time.
