As the 2021 Ryder Cup approaches, many so-called experts are trying to figure out exactly what’s going to happen. At this point, it’s still hard to say as the Americans look like clear favorites but the Europeans have won four of the last five competitions.

Both sides are hoping that they find the hot players this week and that they can ride them to victory. Here are our predictions for the five players most likely to see success this week at Whistling Straits.

More from Pro Golf Now

Jon Rahm – He probably should have won the FedEx Cup and probably should have been the PGA Tour Player of the Year. He is the top-ranked golfer in the world and he will be the best player on the grounds in Wisconsin this week.

Patrick Cantlay – The guy who actually did win the FedEx Cup and actually did win the PGA Tour Player of the Year is also in this event. Cantlay was hot and steady in the postseason and looks to carry that over into this week. If he can, it could boost the Americans’ cause.

Sergio Garcia – El Nino has played well over the last 12 months and he loves this event. No player, ever, has won more Ryder Cup points and Garcia is back to add to that record this week. Look for him to do so and to be a thorn in the side of the Americans in the process.

Collin Morikawa – At just 24 years of age, Morikawa has already accomplished so much in his career. Now, he gets to experience the Ryder Cup for the first time. We have seen him rise to the occasion over and over and we expect nothing less this week.

Justin Thomas – He did not have his best year on the PGA Tour in 2020-21, so Thomas will be looking for some redemption. He will also get to partner with his good friend Jordan Spieth, more than likely, which should boost Thomas even more.
