There are a number of very good players still looking for their first win on the PGA Tour. In our current series, we are taking a look at the players who might be next to get that first win. Today’s subject is Scottie Scheffler.

The former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year has come a long way in a short amount of time. In addition to being named Rookie of the Year two seasons ago, Scheffler added a Ryder Cup appointment to his resume last month.

At that Ryder Cup, he proved that he could hang with anyone. In fact, he took down the world’s top-ranked player, Jon Rahm, in the Sunday singles match. Impressive.

But Scheffler still has not won on the PGA Tour. He came close last season, finishing second in the WGC-Match Play. He was also third at the Memorial Tournament.

Despite not winning, Scheffler had a big season on tour.

He started 29 times and made 24 cuts. He was in the Top 25 on 16 occasions and in the top 10 a total of eight times. His play was impressive enough that U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker picked him over veterans like Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson and Kevin Na to be on the U.S. side at Whistling Straits.

Scheffler won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019 to earn his way on the PGA Tour. His rookie season was outstanding and his second year was even better.

There’s little question tht Scheffler will win on tour. It’s just a matter of when. He’s just 25 years old, so he has plenty of time to get into the win column. Look for that to happen sooner rather than later.

Scheffler, along with Will Zalatoris, are the most likely to get their first win soon. And it won’t be a surprise to anyone when they finally do get a victory.
