Who’s Most Likely to Get First PGA Tour Win This Season: Tommy Fleetwood?
By Tim Letcher
There are a number of very good players still looking for their first win on the PGA Tour. In our current series, we are taking a look at the players who might be next to get that first win. Today’s subject is Tommy Fleetwood.
This one is a bit deceiving because the series of articles is about players who have never won on the PGA Tour. Fleetwood has five wins on the European Tour, including a pair of triumphs at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

However, Fleetwood has not won on the PGA Tour. He has made 88 starts but has not yet gotten over the top.
Fleetwood has finished second on four occasions. He was second to Dustin Johnson at the 2017 WGC-Mexico Championship. In 2018, he shot a 63 in the final round of the U.S. Open but was still second to Brooks Koepka. Then in 2019, he was second at the Open Championship and tied for second (with partner Sergio Garcia) at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
He’s a proven winner overseas, so it’s likely that Fleetwood will get a win at some point.
Fleetwood did not have an outstanding season on tour last year. He made 18 starts and was inside the cut line 14 times. But he only had four Top 25 showings and just two Top 10s. Ironically, both of those Top 10s came in the month of March (T10 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T5 at the WGC-Match Play). He did not make the FedEx Cup playoffs.
After a disappointing finish at the Ryder Cup, Fleetwood is ready to bounce back and get back to playing more like he was in 2018 and 2019. If he can find that game again, Fleetwood would almost definitely get a win on the PGA Tour. Whether than happens or not remains to be seen.
