This week, the PGA Tour travels to Japan for the ZOZO Championship. This week’s event will have a quality field of talent including 2020 PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa and 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama. Let’s take a look at this week’s PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

*The inaugural 2019 ZOZO Championship was played at Accordia Narashino Golf Club in Japan. However, the 2020 ZOZO Championship was moved to the United States due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are my fantasy golf/DFS player selections for the 2020 ZOZO Championship.

Collin Morikawa

Since the beginning of May, Collin Morikawa has played ten tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those ten events just mentioned, Morikawa has accumulated six top 14 finishes, including a win at the Open Championship in July.

Morikawa also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. In relation to this week’s current listed ZOZO Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Collin Morikawa ranks third in bogey avoidance, fifth in strokes gained approach, third in driving accuracy, and tenth in three putt avoidance.

Xander Schauffele

The 27 year old American has played nine tournaments (PGA and European Tours combined) since the beginning of June. In those nine events just mentioned, Schauffele has accumulated six top 18 finishes, including a seventh place result at the 2021 U.S. Open in June. I should also mention that during the time period just noted, Xander won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

In relation to this week’s current listed ZOZO Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Schauffele ranks sixth in bogey avoidance, second in strokes gained approach, sixth in three putt avoidance, and fourth in strokes gained ball striking.

Xander also finished tenth at the 2019 ZOZO Championship.

C.T. Pan

The 29 year old arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event in rather good form. Let me be more specific. Pan has accumulated two consecutive top 11 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a sixth place result at the Fortinet Championship. Pan also won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in August.

Scott Vincent

Most golf fans have never heard of the name Scott Vincent. Having stated that, let me provide you some information regarding Vincent. Vincent is currently a full time member of the Japan Tour.  However, Vincent has also played several tournaments on the European Tour over the course of the last few years.

Let’s take a look at a few of Vincent’s recent quality results on the European Tour. Vincent finished sixth at the 2020 South African Open, eighth at the 2020 Portugal Masters, and ninth at the 2020 English Championship.

I should also note that Scott Vincent finished 16th at the Tokyo Olympics.

Kyoung-Hoon Lee

Kyoung-Hoon Lee has accumulated three top 25 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the BMW Championship last month.

Additional golfers I like this week: Hideki Matsuyama: Rickie Fowler: Ryosuke Kinoshita.
