2021 Bermuda Championship: Groups to Watch Thursday, Friday
By Tim Letcher
The PGA Tour is in Bermuda this week for the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Here are the groups to watch on Thursday and Friday this week.
Garrick Higgo, Patrick Reed, Danny Willett – Higgo is one of the brightest young stars in the game and already has a win under his belt. Reed is the 24th-ranked player in the world and the highest-ranked player in this week’s field. Willett won the Masters in 2016, which is his only PGA Tour win. He did win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship a few weeks ago.

Dylan Frittelli, Graeme McDowell, Seamus Power – Frittelli has one tour win, which came at the 2019 John Deere Classic. McDowell has won four times on tour, with his last win also coming in 2019 (Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship). Power got his first win in July, holding of J.T. Poston to win the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.
Luke Donald, Matt Fitzpatrick, Nick Watney – Donald was once the number one player in the world but injuries have derailed him the past few years. Fitzpatrick is still looking for that first PGA Tour win. He did win on the European Tour a couple of weeks ago at Valderrama. Watney has gotten off to a nice start this season, including a T2 in Mississippi at the Sanderson Farms.
Brian Gay, Nick Taylor, Camilo Villegas – This is the week that Gay lives for. He loves Port Royal. He won here last year and was T3 the year before that. Look for him to contend again this week. Taylor has started slowly this season but hopes for better things this week. Villegas made the cut at the Shriners and hopes to build on that.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, David Hearn – Aphibarnrat has missed the cut in both of his starts this season. Bezuidenhout is up to No. 43 in the world golf rankings and, at age 27, continues to flash amazing potential. Hearn is a veteran who is still looking for that first PGA Tour victory.
