This week, the PGA Tour travels to the great state of Texas for the Houston Open. Let’s take a look at this PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite fantasy golf/DFS player selections for the Houston Open.

Sam Burns

Since the beginning of May, Sam Burns has played 13 tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those 13 events just mentioned, Burns has accumulated an impressive nine top 14 finishes, including two wins (Valspar Championship, Sanderson Farms Championship).

In relation to this week’s current listed Houston Open field, in the last 50 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Sam Burns ranks first in bogey avoidance, first in birdie or better percentage, first in strokes gained tee to green, and fourth in strokes gained ball striking.

It should also be noted that Sam Burns finished seventh at the 2020 Houston Open.

Sungjae Im

The 23 year old South Korean has accumulated five top 20 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the Shriners Children’s Hospitals Open last month.

Aaron Wise

Aaron Wise has accumulated three consecutive top 15 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fifth place result at the CJ Cup @ Summit last month.

In relation to this week’s current listed Houston Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Aaron Wise ranks seventh in birdie or better percentage, fifth in strokes gained tee to green, ninth in GIR (greens in regulation), and fourth in strokes gained around the green.

I also like the fact that Aaron Wise has performed well at this PGA Tour event previously. Wise finished 11th at the 2020 Houston Open.

James Hahn

Full disclosure, James Hahn has not had a great year on the PGA Tour. However, Hahn has recently shown signs that his game is trending in a positive direction. More specifically, James Hahn arrives at this week’s Houston Open on the heels of two consecutive top 27 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the ZOZO Championship three weeks ago.

Mackenzie Hughes

The 30 year old Canadian has accumulated two consecutive top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the ZOZO Championship. Hughes also finished seventh at the 2020 Houston Open.

Additional golfers I like this week: Marc Leishman: Harry Higgs.
