It’s the holiday season and the most anticipated golf gift guide is here again. I present to you the 2021 Valentine Gold Heart Holiday Golf Gifts Guide for Golfers®.

As a golf gear junkie, this is my Super Bowl. Every new gadget and golf-related gizmo has been researched or personally tested to create a list of sure-fire golf gift winners.

See last year’s guide here if you  need more ideas. A year later, these recommendations still stand up and meet my stringent standards.

Without further ado, here are my picks for best holiday golf gifts for 2021.

Phone Caddy by Desert Fox Golf

Let’s start off with a little stocking stuffer.

The cell phone has become an indispensable golf tool. With apps that provide GPS yardages, green breaks, and  scoring and stat tracking, the phone needs a place to live during the round. In addition, your phone is also the jukebox (for my younger readers, that’s a machine that plays records. What’s a record? Oh, forget it!)

Most players keep their phone in a pocket, but that’s not always comfortable with the size of phones today. Plus, taking it in and out of your pocket all day becomes a distraction to you and other golfers.

Enter the Phone Caddy. This little guy straps to the roof bar of the cart and securely holds your phone. It’s light, easy to adjust and does the job perfectly. Suddenly, you have on-cart GPS, easy access to music, and you can see email and text alerts (if you’re into that).

The holder can be adjusted to hold the phone but also allow you to quickly remove it and take it on a walk to the green.

I recently gave these as gifts on a golf trip and they were universally praised. Now that the GHIN app has GPS and scoring input, it just makes sense to have the phone viewable and easy to access at all times.

Palm Golf Gloves

There are dozens of good golf gloves out there. Most are white with black trim. That’s boring and you deserve better. Enter Palm Golf Co.

Palm is one of the growing golf lifestyle brands that has it figured out. What do I mean? Well, first, they understand that being a golf lifestyle brand means you have to focus on golf, more than lifestyle.

Palm made a name for themselves by focusing on an essential piece of equipment – the golf glove. Everyone uses one (except Fred Couples) and the major OEM players had offerings that had little or no personality.

Does Footjoy make a good glove? Yes, they are the standard bearer in the market. But their gloves lack personality. At a time when golf apparel allows every player to show off their own style, Palm figured out that the glove could be part of the equation.

Palm also offers a number of good looking golf accessories, including hats, headcovers, leather goods, and apparel, that all reinforce the mellow West Coast vibe of the company.

“Swing and Smile” is one of their taglines that isn’t just good advice on the course, it’s good life advice.

Every Palm product I’ve tested has been well made and designed. Their customer service has also been fast and friendly. This is a company on the rise. Get aboard now and enjoy the ride.

Golf Drawn

Looking for a more personal gift? Golf Drawn could be just the ticket.

Golf Drawn produces stylized renderings of golf course routings. You need to see it to understand exactly what they do, but once you do see it, your first reaction will be, “That’s really cool.”

Basically, they can create a personalized piece of art that features your golfer’s favorite course. They can add initials, frame it, or even put it on a sticker or t-shirt. If they don’t have your favorite course in stock, they will do custom prints of any course in the world for a minimum charge.

You can choose the color scheme, add the hole or course information, a monogram, or any number of other identifiers to make it completely personal.

Golf Drawn makes it possible to show off your home course, a course you visited on a trip, or maybe your favorite tournament site. It’s minimal, it’s clean, it’s cool, and it’s personal. That’s a great gift.

Ghost Golf

The golf towel is one of the most underrated and ignored pieces of golf equipment. There are thousands of designs. That’s not the issue. The problem is that the golf towel generally either hangs loose on your bag or is attached to the bag.

Ghost Golf solves this problem with their magnetic golf towel. It firmly sticks to club heads, golf carts, or any other metal surface. The benefit is that it stays put when you want it to, but easily travels to the green to do its job cleaning the ball or your clubs.

This isn’t the first towel with a magnet, but it is the best. It just works. It’s the right size, the magnet is strong, and it’s not covered with a crazy design. Perfect.

Ghost Golf also offers stretchy web golf belts at a reasonable price. Throw a belt in with a Ghost Golf Towel and you’ll have a happy golfer gift.

Flag Bag Co.

Remember how Nieman Marcus used to have one outrageous gift in their holiday catalog? Of course you don’t. Trust me, it used to be one of the big holiday gift surprises every year. It was usually something crazy like a golf ball-sized diamond pendant or a personal submarine.

In homage to those crazy gifts that no one needs but everyone wants, I present Flag Bag Co.

Even dedicated riders like me have to walk sometimes. Having a light carry bag is essential. Flag Bag Co. has created what might be the most coveted and personalized version of the sunday carry bag ever conceived.

As the name suggests, Flag Bag is made from new or recycled golf pin flags. You can provide your own flags, have them source flags, or choose from their “library” of random flags.

The result is a golf bag that is completely unique. No two bags are alike. That’s a gift that will make an impression.

The cost is steeper than a regular golf bag. Much steeper. If this is a gift for a guy, know that the recipient will likely break into tears of joy. It is the golfer’s equivalent of giving someone an engagement ring. It says, “You complete me.”

Everyone will ask you about it, everyone will envy it, and it might be the greatest golf equipment gift you can give outside of a full bag fitting for a completely new set of clubs.

If you have a golfer on your list who has everything, a Flag Bag might be the answer to your gift search.

No matter what you give the golfer in your life for the holidays, know that there are really no bad golf gifts. Even socks will excite the golfer because it makes them think of the next round. By acknowledging their passion for the game, you’ll spread cheer with minimal effort.
