The PGA Tour is in Texas this weekend for the 2021 Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open. Here are the groups to keep an eye on during the first two rounds of action.

Sam Burns, Max Homa, Sungjae Im – Three players who have already won during the 2021-22 season. Burns probably should have won here last year, before finishing T7. He won this season at the Sanderson Farms. Homa won at the Fortinet, his third PGA Tour title. Im uncharacteristically took some time off recently. He won at the Shriners earlier this season.

Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith – Hatton is No. 19 in the Official World Golf Rankings and looked good here last year (T7). Koepka is No. 15 in the world but has struggled a bit lately. Smith is No. 22 in the world and it seems he could be ready to take that next step at any time.

Carlos Ortiz, Patrick Reed, Adam Scott – Ortiz is the defending champion, having topped the field by two shots last year. Reed is a native Texan who should fare well here. Scott won this event in 2007 and would like nothing more than to find that kind of magic again this week.

Tony Finau, Marc Leishman, Matthew Wolff – Finau got a win at the end of last season and played well in the Ryder Cup. He’s looking to carry that momentum into Houston. Leishman has a win in each of the last three PGA Tour seasons. He’ll look to extend that streak this week. Wolff shot a 61 last week in Mexico and ultimately finished T5.

Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson, Francesco Molinari – Three former winners of the Open Championship comprise this pairing. Cink won at Turnberry in 2009. ZJ won at St. Andrews in 2015. And Molinari won at Carnoustie in 2018. That doesn’t mean any of them will be in the mix this week, it’s just a fun fact.
