For our criteria, we are keeping it pretty simple. It’s all about winning, so the players will be ranked on how often they win in relation to how many starts they have made, with major championships taken into consideration. FedEx Cup finishes are also among the criteria.

After taking those things into consideration, the perception of a particular player will be considered. Finally, the opinion of yours truly will be the deciding factor.

He has made 141 starts on the PGA Tour in his career. His lone win came at the 2017 RSM Classic. But Hughes competes in nearly every event he enters.

Over the past three seasons, Hughes has been impressive.

He has entered 75 tournaments during that span. He has made the cut 46 times, with 19 Top 25 finishes. He has 10 showings in the Top 10, including two seconds and two thirds.

Hughes was in the mix for the FedEx Cup in 2020 before ultimately finishing 14th in his first trip to East Lake. It likely won’t be his last trip there.

He’s just 30 years old and has plenty of good golf ahead of him. And the new year is already off to a great start, with Hughes making three straight cuts. He finished T4 in his last start, which came at the Zozo Championship.

Hughes has a very solid game and should be competing on tour for many years to come. He’s underrated by nearly everyone and is worthy of higher praise than he currently receives.
