2021 Houston Open: Winners and Losers at Memorial Park
By Tim Letcher
Every week on the PGA Tour, there are players who do better than expected and those who fall short of what’s expected of them. Here at Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are the winners and losers from the 2021 Houston Open.
Winners
Jason Kokrak – The big man continues to improve with each passing season. This week, he picked up his third PGA Tour victory with a 66-65 weekend to win by two shots in Houston.

Kevin Tway – He came up just short of catching Kokrak but a T2 is the second-best showing of his career. For a player who has missed the postseason the last two years, this finish could go a long way.
Scottie Scheffler – He was not able to earn his first PGA Tour win but Scheffler had a good showing in his home state this week. It’s just a matter of time before the talented Texan wins on tour.
Kramer Hickok – A solo fourth is the second-best finish of Hickok’s career on tour, so this was a big week for him. He has proven that he can hang with some of the game’s best, as he did again this week.
Sam Burns – Guess who found his way into the Top 10 again this week? Burns has played in four events so far this season and now has three Top 10s, including a win. He’s your current FedEx Cup leader.
Losers
Tony Finau – He appeared to be in good position to make the cut this week. But a he had a bogey on the 13th hole on Friday, followed by a double bogey and that was enough to put him outside the cut line.
Brooks Koepka – Not exactly sure what’s going on with Koepka right now, but he’s struggling. This season, he has finished T67, T38, MC and, this week, another MC. He needs to get this moving in another direction.
Tyrrell Hatton – A 75 on Thursday doomed his week. He did come back with a 68 on Friday but it was too little, too late.
Lee Westwood – He shot 70 on Thursday but ballooned to an 84 on Friday. That was one of the worst rounds of Westwood’s entire career.
Shane Lowry – He was in position to make the cut with two holes to play on Friday. But a triple bogey on the par-4 17th ruined that for him. Even a birdie on the 18th hole was not enough to save Lowry’s week.
