The Farmers Insurance Open is set up for an enthralling final two rounds with two of golf’s biggest stars in Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas neck and neck at the top of the leaderboard after the second round.

Third round action begins at 12:30 pm EST on Friday before the tournament concludes with a unique Saturday finish for the first time. It’s a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard at the halfway mark with Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas also joined by Adam Schenk at 13 under par.

Schenk recorded one of the highlights of Thursday’s action when he recorded a 62,10 under par round on the North Course, a round that could have very easily been a 61 if not for his birdie attempt narrowly missing the hole on the last. The leading group is set to get their third round underway at 2:40 pm eastern time on Friday afternoon with the field taking on Torrey’s South Course for the final two rounds.

Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas will both be heavily favored to win the Farmers Insurance Open come Saturday but this tournament isn’t completely over just yet, here are a couple of names that could find themselves winning at Torrey Pines when all is said and done.

Dustin Johnson (+4000)

Johnson is making his first start this week since the CJ Cup back in October and he currently sits six shots back of the leaders with two rounds to play. Dustin opened with a 68 on the South Course on Wednesday when he gained over 5 strokes tee to green, a mark that is tied for the best in the field after everyone’s one round around the South Course.

The six-shot deficit is certainly not insurmountable for a player of Dustin’s quality and the fact that his best round came on the South Course during round one makes him an intriguing option down the board.

He was right in the mix alongside both Thomas and Rahm until the very end on Wednesday and there is enough danger lurking around the South Course that Johnson could find himself right back in the mix here, especially if he can improve upon or maintain those excellent tee to green numbers.

Ryan Palmer (+7500)

This is a bit of a longshot but if someone can come from behind at a big number it could very well be Palmer. Ryan sits five shots back of the leaders at the halfway point after a very nice opening two rounds. He has had a decent amount of success at Torrey Pines before and he certainly looks to be adding to that fine record so far this week.

Palmer fired a 3 under par 69 on the South Course on Thursday, and he gained over 5 strokes tee to green in the process, a mark that tied him for best in the field with Dustin Johnson. It’s been a very long time since his last PGA win, 2010 to be precise, but he did finish 2nd at the Farmers Insurance Open just last year. The Texan is playing well so far this week and is worth taking a chance with at this number.
