Don’t let a missed cut in his last start influence you too much. Russell Henley is still having a great season.

The 33-year-old is showing great consistency in 2021-22. He made his 11 previous stroke play cuts, including second place at the Sony Open in Hawaii and T-7th at the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open.

Prior to his MC at the RBC Heritage, Henley took T-30th at the Masters and went out in 31 on the first nine on Sunday.

The Georgia alum also has experience at TPC Potomac. Henley fired 67-77-74-67 to take T-46th at the 2017 Quicken Loans National. He was fairly solid in most statistics that week, but his usually steady iron game was off.

This same venue for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship appears to be a second-shot golf course. If that’s the case, Henley ought to thrive.

He ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach (1.076).

Henley is also ninth in greens in regulation (70.89%). He’s a high-floor player who rarely produces clunkers. Even without a win, he’s fifth in scoring average (69.846).

Henley’s not a bomber, but that should be manageable at a course that doesn’t tip out much past 7,000 yards. He’s 26th in fairway accuracy (67.1%) and 24th in total driving.

Henley is a three-time PGA Tour winner but hasn’t grabbed a trophy since 2017. This is one of the best chances he’ll get the rest of the year, so I expect him to use his two weeks off after Harbour Town to refind his form and get in contention.
