Fantasy Golf: 2022 Memorial Tournament DFS Picks

This week, the PGA Tour travels to Dublin, Ohio for the 2022 Memorial Tournament. Let’s take a look at this week’s Memorial Tournament from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my fantasy golf/DFS player picks for the 2022 Memorial Tournament.

Shane Lowry

Since the beginning of February, Shane Lowry has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those six events just mentioned, Lowry has accumulated six consecutive top 23 finishes, including a third-place result at the 2022 RBC Heritage in April.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Shane Lowry ranks 12th in strokes gained tee to green, ninth in strokes gained approach, and first in bogey avoidance.

It should also be noted that Shane Lowry finished sixth at the 2021 Memorial Tournament.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event history. Rory McIlroy has played the Memorial Tournament nine times since 2011. In those nine events just mentioned, McIlroy has accumulated five top 18 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2016 Memorial Tournament.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy ranks first in GIR (greens in regulation), fifth in birdie or better percentage, second in bogey avoidance, and fifth in strokes gained ball striking.

Chris Kirk

Chris Kirk arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top 15 finishes, including a fifth-place result at the 2022 PGA Championship two weeks ago.

Chris Kirk also finished 26th at the 2021 Memorial Tournament.

Jason Day

Earlier this month, Jason Day posted a first-round 63 at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship en route to an eventual 15th place finish.

Due to the fact that Jason Day performed so well at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, I decided to take a hard look at the player statistics for the event to see how Day fared relative to the field.

After four rounds of competitive play at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, in relation to the field, Jason Day ranked 12th in putting average (1.711), 15th in bogey avoidance (10), and sixth in total birdies made (16).
