Fantasy Golf: 2022 Genesis Scottish Open DFS Player Selections
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour travels across the pond for the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open. Let’s take a look at this week’s PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my fantasy golf/DFS player selections for the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open.
Ryan Fox
Since the beginning of May, Ryan Fox has played eight tournaments (PGA and DP World Tours combined). In those eight events just mentioned, Fox has accumulated six top-nine finishes, including a second-place result at last week’s 2022 Irish Open.
Ryan Fox finished sixth at the 2018 Scottish Open.
Lucas Herbert
Lucas Herbert has accumulated two top 13 finishes in his last five events played, including an impressive 13th place result at the 2022 PGA Championship.
I also like the fact that Lucas Herbert has performed well at this week’s PGA Tour event in the past. More specifically, Herbert finished fourth at the 2021 Scottish Open.
Aaron Rai
Aaron Rai has accumulated three top 26 finishes in his last four tournaments played (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including a 13th place result at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open last month.
It should also be noted that Aaron Rai won the 2020 Scottish Open.
Jordan Smith
Jordan Smith arrives at this week’s 2022 Genesis Scottish Open on the heels of six consecutive top 24 finishes on the DP World Tour, including an eighth-place result at the 2022 BMW International Open two weeks ago.
Due to the fact that Jordan Smith performed so well at the 2022 BMW International Open, I decided to take a hard look at Smith’s player statistics relative to the field.
After four rounds of competitive play at the 2022 BMW International Open, in relation to the field, Jordan Smith ranked 12th in driving distance (309.8 yards), ninth in scrambling (75%), and 18th in putts per GIR (1.70).
Additional golfers I like this week: Justin Thomas: Jon Rahm: Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
