With the 2022 Presidents Cup less than 2 months away, Captain Davis Love III of the U.S. side will have some difficult decisions to make when making his captain selections.

The 2022 Presidents Cup will take place from Sep. 22 to Sep. 25 at The Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In Charlotte, the United States will look to retain the cup against an International team that includes players from countries outside of Europe.

12 players will be selected to compete for each side, with 6 of those being automatic qualifiers.  The golfers who will automatically qualify will be those that have amassed the most amount of FedEx Cup points over approximately the last three years. (The current standings are listed on the Presidents Cup official site.)

This means that if the U.S. team was chosen today; Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth would automatically qualify, with Tony Finau and Collin Morikawa right on Spieth’s heels.

One can assume that Love III will take all three of those players no matter who finishes with more points.  So who does that leave for the last four spots?

Well, I’m going to go ahead and assume that Will Zalatoris, who has been a major machine this year will also be selected.

That leaves us with only 3 spots remaining.  For these three spots, I could see Love III making cases for seven different players to compete for Team USA.

Those seven golfers in order of Presidents Cup standing points include; Max Homa, Billy Horschel, Tom Hoge, Cameron Young, Jason Kokrak, Kevin Kisner, and Daniel Berger. Each golfer brings something different to the table for team USA.

Here are the three players I would take with me to the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow:

Max Homa

Max is currently ranked 20th in the world and has consistently been in the mix all year.

Max has established himself as one of the top guys, is well-liked among his peers, and would bring the energy needed in a team event like the Presidents Cup. I would have a hard time being convinced of any reason he should be left off this team.

Cameron Young

Young has been having a great year and made himself more of a household name with his performance at The Open just two weeks ago.

He has not just played well at The Open, Young has had a T3 or better finish in four of his last seven starts!  That is a remarkable run by Young who is now up to 19th in the World rankings.

Young is also a bomber of the golf ball as he ranks 7th in driving distance on tour this season. On a long course like Quail Hollow, it would be tough to beat a guy who’s playing 25 yards in front of you on every hole.

Kevin Kisner

My outlier pick here is Kiz.  Kisner is a killer when it comes to match play.

In the 2017 Presidents Cup, Kisner compiled an undefeated 2-0-2 record.  He also won the 2019 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament, and finished runner-up to Scottie Scheffler in that same tournament this year.

The guy just finds ways to win in matches, and that’s exactly what you need in the Presidents Cup. Not to mention Kisner also has a good track record at Quail Hollow as he held the lead there after 54 holes at the 2017 PGA Championship.

dark. Next. Whose FedEx Cup Hopes May Be Fading In Detroit?

Another well-liked player, Kisner will also be a great locker room guy which you can never have enough of.  Give me Kisner on this team all day.

I hope Captain Davis Love III reads this because I need, and the United States needs Kevin Kisner on the 2022 Presidents Cup team.
