The 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic has officially reached the halfway point and things are shaping up nicely for an entertaining weekend of action in the Motor City.

Canadian Taylor Pendrith and last week’s 3M Open winner Tony Finau both continued to play impressive golf on Friday with both players creating a bit of separation between themselves and the rest of the pack.

Pendrith leads the way at -15 heading into moving day with Tony Finau just one shot adrift. Lee Hodges heads into the weekend three shots behind Pendrith, and there are a handful of players sitting at 10 under Par.

Can anyone catch the two at the top? the short answer is yes. Cameron Young demonstrated what kind of round is potentially out there after his scorching 63 on Friday. Conversely, though, it is unlikely that both Pendrith and Finau will fail to take advantage of easy scoring conditions themselves.

Having said all of that, and given the fact that Pendrith and Finau both have a winning probability north of 30%, I’ll be looking at players with some deeper odds to take a shot with this weekend.

Tony Finau (+160) is listed as the favorite over on WynnBet heading into Saturday with current leader Taylor Pendrith (+240) right behind him.

Here are three players who could potentially come from behind and steal the show over the next two days at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Live Outright Bets to consider at the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Sahith Theegala  +2800

Could this finally be the breakthrough spot for Theegala? he has been close on two different occasions this season already and this is a tournament that has seen players earn their first PGA win in two of the last three years.

Ordinarily, you wouldn’t want to put too much emphasis into putting stats, but in an event like the Rocket Mortgage Classic, you know that draining putts will be critical in a defacto putting contest.

Sahith is gaining +2.35 strokes this week with his putter, he is gaining strokes with his irons, and he is in the positive from tee to green as well. All of this is a good sign heading into the weekend, and with Theegala just six shots back he still has plenty of time to make up ground on the leaders.

Si Woo Kim  +3300

Si Woo Kim is the type of streaky player who could certainly take down an event like this when he has everything working.

Kim has been playing better golf of late and he was 15th at the Open Championship over in Scotland in his last start, so he certainly could be on the verge of winning once again.

The 2017 Players Champion has gained +2.02 strokes on the greens this week and he is gaining strokes in nearly every category through two rounds of this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Si Woo is also six shots back going in the weekend. If he can keep playing like he has been recently he could certainly make a charge up the leaderboard over the next two days.

Richy Werenski  +330000

Okay, I’ll admit this is an extremely speculative shot on a true longshot, but these odds are too good to pass up on a player who is only seven shots back.

To put things in perspective, Callum Tarren, who is also seven shots back is listed at (+9000).

Werenski is gaining +1.54 strokes with the putter and +1.92 strokes with his approach play through two rounds of the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Richy is most assuredly a better bet in placement markets, but at this number he is well worth taking a chance on with how he has played through two rounds, besides, stranger things have happened before right?
